Choosing a theme and colour scheme for your wedding
Choosing a theme and colour scheme for your wedding theme at first can be very daunting. When I first started thinking about it, I found it quite overwhelming! The best places to start looking are in bridal magazines, library books, wedding fairs and of course online! A good magazine to buy is Wedding ideas mag. It’s full of features of real life weddings, photos and advice. Its not full of ridiculously priced items which most bridal magazines feature and cost over £5 to buy!
Your local library is a great source for wedding information. I think I took home every bridal book they held on loan. I also looked on amazon for bridal books, got the ISBN number and asked my library if they could retrieve this from another library, which they did.
Wedding Fairs are good for inspiration, meeting local wedding exhibitors for quotes, samples and offers.
There are some really good websites to look on for inspiration. My favourite website is confetti.co.uk. They have a theme section which is great especially if you are starting from scratch.
Once you find something you like, everything else will fall into place. Tear out pictures from your magazines, take photos from your library books and things that have caught your eye at wedding fairs and your theme will start to build up.
Once you have your theme in mind, now you need to think about how you can do this at a reasonable cost. If there is a particular flower arrangement you like show the picture to several florists and get them to give you a quote, tell them exactly you want. You’ll find the florist you choose will love knowing your whole theme, and will know exactly what you have in mind and elaborate.
Table decorations, favours and centre pieces are the key to your theme. They are usually the first things your guests will notice when they walk into your reception room.
Ebay is the perfect site to find these finishing touches at a low cost. As long as you give yourself plenty of time to look, you can really find some good bargains.
