Wedding Packages from Venues in England (0)
Wedding venues in England run the full gamut. You don’t have to stick with the standard hotel option – especially if you want exclusivity or are of a mind to go for an unusual venue. Whether it’s for the wedding service itself or the reception or both, there are interesting and quirky venues from the tip to toe of England. And it goes without saying don’t book a venue blind. Visit, meet the key staff and asking for a tasting from their wedding menus if you’re planning a reception.
We hope this whets your appetite.
Historic and Landmark Buildings
England offers a wide range of heritage buildings for wedding venues. Most are in private hands but some are operated by the National Trust. Many will not have accommodation. Whether you want to get married in a Palace, city hall, a college, or landmark industrial building there are historic options to suit every budget. Don’t assume it’s only London that’s home to these types of venues. If you like a particular well known building just ask if they are a wedding venue.
Sporting Venues
From football stadiums to racecourses and golf clubs, you can find sporting related wedding venues throughout England. Of course, you may have a particular one in mind if your partner is football daft. Just remember these may or may not have accommodation options and you’ll need to make sure the food is adequate and it may well be superlative at some sporting venues.
Country Houses and Estates
Perhaps your wedding inspiration is that you want to wed as you’ve never lived. England excels at offering a huge range of country house and estate venues. If you’re looking for a more homely alternative to a hotel, even a luxury one, then this may be the perfect choice. Some may function as hotels in all but name others will have more of a private house vibe and you may be able to book exclusive use.
Museums
A growing number of museums are offering wedding venue hire. There will be no accommodation on site, something to bear in mind when planning. But if you’re looking for a quirky venue, that doesn’t cost the earth this could be an area to explore. Major cities will give you a choice of museums to consider but don’t discount the possibility of finding a rural one. They do exist.
Country Inns
Some country inns with rooms also hold a civil wedding license. Don’t dismiss these out of hand as country inns have come a long way and can offer very good value when compared with small hotels. Many have ensuite rooms, a decent function room and reputable chefs. When once they may have been shabby, the best country inns are among the undiscovered gems of the English wedding scene – especially if you’re working to a tight budget but don’t want to skimp on your food budget. You may not be able to accommodate all your wedding party at the same location.
Independent Hotels
Independent hotels can be very luxurious although you need to bear in mind you may not be able to negotiate exclusive use. Choose from country luxury or city boutique style hotels if you want everything on tap. You’ll also find a good range of independent hotels on the coast, if you want to find a middle ground between city and country.
Barns and mills
If you like old barns or even mills you’ll be pleased to know that England offers a spread of these in every county. Often these venues can be quite small and are available for exclusive use. Some hold a civil wedding license so you can hold your service at the venue as well. Check whether food prepared for weddings is catered or made on the premises.
Castles
Castles are popular wedding venues – especially if you have a large wedding party. You may be able to negotiate exclusive use. Castles are usually either privately owned or run by the National Trust. There are castles in England available as wedding venues from Cumbria to Cornwall. You need to bear in mind you’ll be staying in a very old building so despite lavish trappings you may have to put up with uneven floor boards and so on. Some peoples delight, others not so.
